Slice Shot – The Slicing Nightmare And How To Stop it
By · CommentsThe most common golf problem that beginners face is learning how to master the accuracy of their shots, especially when using the longer clubs. I remember when I first started playing golf and it seemed that the ball would go in any direction but straight. If you are just starting out yourself then the good news is that there are a few techniques that can help fix these mis-guided shots.
The Slice: Every Beginner's Main Problem
Probably rated as the most frequent and frustrating problem that a beginner golf player faces is the slice. It happens all of the time and there is absolutely nothing positive about a bad sliced shot.
When you hit a “thin” shot in golf, your clubhead is typically making contact with the ball above its equator line. This type of shot is not only embarrassing, but it sends the ball flying off with the loft of only a few feet, if that much.
The type of club you use has an effect on the thin shot made. For example, a thin shot that is hit with a long iron, middle iron, or wood, will travel at a far less distance than a ball that is properly hit. On the other hand, a thin shot hit with a short iron or wedge will travel farther than normal after the ball hits the ground and continues to roll.
In golf, the definition of a good grip is different from grips used in any other kind sports.
For instance, in baseball, the player gets a good grip of the bat by placing one hand above the other and the bat is held tightly in the palms instead of the fingers. When the player swings the bat, a massive amount of force from the wrist is applied. The player's hands act independent of one another while swinging the bat.
In golf, however, both hands must act as one unit rather than two separate forces. This is because right timing and accuracy are needed to create a perfect golf swing, much more than what is required for a baseball swing.
Golf Clubs For Beginners – Choosing With Club To Use
By · CommentsAs you progress each shot down the fairway, the distance between your ball and the flagstick becomes shorter and shorter. This means that your goal is to hit the ball as far as possible from the tee shot. Then on all subsequent shots you will need to adjust your swing for accuracy and precision, not distance.
This requires that you utilize different clubs for different shots. The club faces are made from either metal or wood. Different materials on a golf club will have different effects on how far the ball will travel, and how high it will go.
Choosing An Iron or Wood
Generally speaking, the higher the number on the club, such as a 9-iron for example, the higher the ball will go into the air, but with much less distance than a lower-numbered club, such as a 3-iron.
Golf Clubs Rules
By · CommentsAccording to the official rules of golf, each player is allowed to carry with them a maximum of 14 clubs in their golf bag.
Beginner golfers may not be too concerned about having all of these clubs, but more seasoned players, like myself, know specifically which clubs will be used and what type of shot to make with them.
Those of you who are just starting out may only want to carry 4 to 5 golf clubs in your bag. You do not have to have all 14 clubs with you just because the rules set that number as the limit.
